The rain falls

The rain falls.

Sometimes my heart overflows with love for the rain
It is then that I abandon all and run around and greet the rain drops,
Then that I splash in puddles and let my hair drip with the refreshing water,
Then that I stretch my arms out to embrace them as they make their heavenly descent.

But
This is not always the case.

The clouds which carry the rain obscure the warmth of the sun
Dim the light of day
And diminish the hope of the weak.
It is then that the rain lingers over me,
Not as a close friend but as an enemy.
It is then that rain gathers its troops and hurls itself down from the sky
In an attempt to permeate all that must stay warm and dry.

The rain falls.

If only we could always be friends
Always embrace one another.
But I see that the different cases
Are not because of the rain
But because of me.
For in one day I have every kind of joy and happiness that is possible
But in the other, I lack
Hope.

The rain falls.
