Life is Lemony

As the old cliché goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But have you ever tried to make lemonade before? It's not as easy as it sounds. Sure, there are only a few ingredients but you've got to squeeze a lot of lemons to get out all that sour juice before you can have that sweet summery drink. We are given disappointments and sorrows to hold as we walk along but it's often not easy to see the good in each situation. Sometimes it takes a lot of lemons to fill up the pitcher before you can taste the sweetness of lemonade in your life. Perhaps it is when disappointments are continuous and pains unrelenting that you have no choice but to get on your knees. Perhaps it is at the point when you give up your hopes and desires for your life that you can begin to see the grand plan in God's hands. Perhaps you are then able to see that you are only halfway through the process of making lemonade: the growing season. However after those lemons are ripe, their sour juice can be squeezed out. Then the juice can be diluted by the water and through it the pain and disappointments can be eased. Finally, the sugar can be added and the unpleasant taste can become merely a memory. This is what the grand lemonade maker creates with your life. This is where the bad turns into the good. This is where we see redemption. Life is never going to be easy, but when life gives you lemons, you can be sure that one day you'll experience the sweet taste of lemonade.
